Marl and Rocky Flat Wetlands of the Florida Everglade - Reference Domain

everglades-fig2 According to Smith et al (1995), the reference domain is the geographic area occupied by the reference wetland sites. The reference domain for this guidebook is the freshwater Everglades in portions of the southern six counties of Florida (Figure 2). The model variables are calibrated based on reference wetland sites located in Broward, Collier, Dade, Hendry, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties (Appendix D). However, the functional models in this guidebook may apply to organic flat wetlands outside of the reference domain (rocky and marl soil types are thought to be confined to the south Florida Everglades). Application of these models to areas outside south Florida is at the discretion of the user.
